Tumble Dryers

How to Screw the Environment with Tumble Dryers:

"Buy a poorly performing tumble dryer and use it badly "

What does that mean?

Tumble Dryers use electrical power to create heat to dry clothes.

Obviously, the more you use them, the more power you use and the greater your environmental impact!

Drying only a couple of items at a time is a great way to use much more energy than you need to.

An older less efficient machine (C rated) will use more power and have a greater environmental impact than a newer more efficient model (A rated). That's the way to really Screw the Environment.

Warning!

'A' rated tumble dryers have an option to use less energy and have a smaller environmental impact by using a heat pump rather than a conventional heating coil, or by having a very long (typically up to 8 hours), low-temperature cycle.

They still cost slightly more than normal dryers, but should also contain more sophisticated sensing equipment to prevent clothes being over-dried, leading to fewer creases and wrinkles (or easier ironing).

Your investment would pay itself back fairly quickly and you would reduce your impact on the environment!
