Lighting
How to Screw the Environment with a simple home lighting technique:
"Use normal high wattage light bulbs (not energy efficient bulbs) everywhere in your house, and don't turn them off when you don't need them "
And here's why:
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an energy efficient bulb, enough energy would be saved to light more than 2.5 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nearly 800,000 cars.
And we wouldn't want that would we.
There's more:
Lets look at the figures:
Lighting accounts for 10-15% of the electricity bill in most homes and energy efficient bulbs usually need 40-70% less electricity than normal bulbs.
So the maths is pretty simple, if your annual electricity bill is $2,000, your lights account for up to $300 of that.
By using energy efficient bulbs you could bring that down to under $100 and that would pay for itself in the first year because energy efficient bulbs last up to FOUR times longer than normal bulbs!
Just turning them off when you leave a room saves energy too.
Energy efficient bulbs might save you money but they reduce Co2 emissions!
Before you rush out to buy them, take into account the fact that using energy efficient bulbs would result in reduced Co2 emissions from power stations and you would actually be helping to prevent global warming!!!

Low energy / energy efficient lightbulbs.
You have been warned.
