Garden hoses & Sprinklers
How to Screw the Environment using your hose:
"er...waste water "
This one's a no brainer.
Leave your hose or sprinklers on, especially when there are water shortages.
This may come as a bit of a shock, but if Global warming happens, we might get really short of fresh water, so you can contribute significantly here..
How's THAT going to happen?
Fresh water makes up 2.6% of all the water on the planet. There's not actually that much of it and at any one time, 20% of that is locked up in the Amazon basin.
Not much left to go around huh.
Some people are predicitng that many of the major wars that will be fought in the next 30 years will be over natural resources like fresh water as well as dwinding oil supplies.
How can I Screw the Environment just using water?
It takes energy and money to make water clean enough to drink and you're pouring it straight into the ground. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
Leaving hosepipes or sprinklers running non stop uses vast amounts of water.
What to avoid if you want to Screw the Environment.
- Have plants that don't need much water
- Planning lawn irrigation for specific early morning or evening hours can reduce water wasted due to evaporation during daylight hours.
- Use of cycle irrigation methods to improve penetration and reduce runoff. Cycle irrigation provides the right amount of water at the right time and place, for optimal growth.
- Use of low-precipitation-rate sprinklers that have better distribution uniformity, bubbler/soaker systems, or drip irrigation systems
You have been warned.
