Global Warming - the scare factor

Why should we be scared..?

The enviro-weenies would love us to be scared of Global Warming, so they tell us all the horror stories about what could happen if we don't stop global Warming.

Here's just a few:

  • It could start a new ice age as the atmosphere fills with clouds that could reflect enough sunlight to cause rapid and uncontrollable cooling of the planet.
  • It could cause the ice caps to melt raising sea levels all over the world. 80% of the global population lives on coastlines, the impacts would be unimaginable.
  • Massive areas of the planet would become unihabitable for humans and there would be mass migrations.
  • Diseases would spread as the range of disease carrying animals spreads.
  • Gas Hydrates (layers of methane) trapped beneath the poles could be released by metling ice causing massive plumes of Methane to be released. This could acelerate Global Warming and trigger Global exinctions.
  • Food production could halve whilst we adjust to the new climate, bilions might starve.
  • There would be flooding on a never before seen scale as rainfall patterns change with the climate.
  • Warmer seas means more energy for hurricane formation, hurricanes would become more frequent and more powerfull.
  • Markets and economies would crash as Global production experiences massive changes.
  • Acidification of rain (through absorbtion of Co2) could kill phytoplankton and cause the collapse of the oceanic food chain leading to mass human starvation.
  • Many animal species would become extinct as their eco-systems collapse.
  • Positive feedback wuold lead to further Global Warming as warming systems themselves contribute towards further warming.
  • Forrest fires would become more common and more intense.
