How to Screw the Environment with Garden lighting:

"Use mains electricity and leave them on as much as possible "

And here's why:

Electrical power to make your lights work comes from Coal, or Oil fired power stations which produce vast amounts of Co2 (and there's Nuclear power too).

So by leaving your lights on all the time means that you are contributing more to Global Warming.

Of course this all adds to your energy bill so you're paying for your attitude.

The alternatives.

It might seem tempting to use Solar Powered lights that collect sunlight during daylight hours then light up at night but not only would you not have to wire them in but then you wouldn't be contributing towards Global Warming anymore, AND you'd be saving money previously earmarked for Screwing the Environment!

Of course you could still insist on using mains power but be tempted to use Energy Efficient bulbs to save money.

Energy efficient bulbs might save you money but they reduce Co2 emissions!

Before you rush out to buy them, take into account the fact that using energy efficient bulbs would result in reduced Co2 emissions from power stations and you would actually be helping to prevent global warming!!!
